There’s something truly special about photographing the same family year after year. The Carroll family session at Oakdale Nature Preserve is one of those moments that fills my heart with gratitude. I’ve had the joy of capturing these amazing kids since they were tiny little newborns, and watching them grow up before my camera lens is nothing short of a blessing.
This year’s session wasn’t super sunny, but the day was still absolutely beautiful. The overcast light made for soft, flattering photos, and the kids’ laughter and energy brought the perfect brightness to every shot.
One of my favorite things about these annual sessions is seeing the family’s traditions evolve. Each year, they bring a little more personality, a few more inside jokes, and an ever-deepening bond that shines through in every image. It’s not just about pictures—it’s about celebrating life, family, and the small moments that make every year unique.
For me, family sessions are more than photography—they are a cherished ritual, a chance to document growth, joy, and love in a way that only time can make possible. I’m already looking forward to next year’s session and the memories it will bring.
If you’ve been thinking about starting an annual family photography tradition, I can’t recommend it enough. There’s nothing like watching your family’s story unfold, one year at a time.
