Here are some answers to frequently asked questions!
How long does a session last?
A standard portrait session lasts 45-60 minutes. Your session starts at the time you booked, so please be sure to be on time.
A newborn session is 2-3 hours. We work on baby time. I will have the studio pretty warm so baby is comfortable being naked. We will likely be sweating 🙂 Feel free to bring an outfit to change into after we are done with family shots. View more on a newborn session here.
A senior session is 1-2 hours. Please remember driving time to different locations is included in session time. This session is only for the graduating senior. Please bring any props you would like to include in your photos! View more on a senior session here.
What are your hours?
My hours will change based on time of year. I am a natural light photographer, which means I use the sun as my light source. I like to try to accommodate according to everyone’s schedules. I do not schedule sessions on Sundays. Contact me if you’d like to schedule a session!
Where do we go for our session?
Your session can be held in the studio or outdoors at a location of your choice. The studio address is 2 E Market St, Shannon, IL 61078. Please note my mailing address is different. Contact me for more information.
I want our session outside, but I don’t know where to go!
No problem, I have a few places I can recommend!
How many people does a session include?
A family session includes your immediate family(parents and children). Extended family (ie grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins) can be included for an additional fee.
What is included in the session fee?
Your investment covers the photographers time, photo selections, editing, online proofing and ordering of photos. I spend approximately 8-10 hours on each photo session. See the investment information for current prices.
How far in advance should we book a session?
Please book your session as far in advance as possible. Outdoor, fall sessions are in high demand and fill quickly.
What should we wear?
Coordinate. I don’t mean everyone wears white. (White is actually more difficult to photograph.)
- Pick a color that everyone can use as an accent piece
- Pick a color palette everyone can work with
- Neutrals work nicely also
- Pinterest has great ideas!
Comfort. Wear what you like! If you are not comfortable, it will show in your photos.
Layers. Layers help add contrast and beauty to your photos. Scarves and jackets are great! Don’t forget the slimming effects too!
Think about your background and where you will be displaying your photos. Is it something you are going to want to look at every day until you get new photos done?
How and when do we pay?
I must receive your retainer to secure your spot on the calendar. Please send your retainer as soon as possible after we have discussed your date and time. Your date and time will not be reserved until your retainer has been received.
Payment for your prints and products must be received before your order will be placed.
