Frequently Asked Questions

When should we book a session?

Please book your session as far in advance as possible.  Outdoor, fall sessions are in high demand and fill quickly.  I am currently booking about 3 months in advance.

What are your hours?

My hours will change based on time of year.  Outdoors, I am a natural light photographer, which means I use the sun as my light source.  I like to try to accommodate according to everyone’s schedules. Indoors, I have more flexibility because I use studio lighting. Contact me if you’d like to schedule a session!

Where do we go for our session?

Your session can be held in the studio or outdoors at a location of your choice.  The studio address is 2 E Market St, Shannon, IL 61078.  Please note my mailing address is different.  Contact me for more information.

I don’t know where to go for our outdoor session.  No problem, I have a few places I can recommend!

How many people does a session include?

A family session includes your immediate family (parents and children). Extended family (ie grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins) can be included for an additional fee. Mini Sessions are for children only. Milestone sessions are for the little ones 12 months and under.

What is included in the session fee?

Your investment covers the photographers time, photo selections, editing, online proofing and ordering of photos. I spend approximately 10-20 hours on each photo session.  See the investment information for current prices.

How long does a session last?

A standard portrait session lasts 45-60 minutes.  Your session starts at the time you booked, so please be sure to be on time.

A newborn session is about 2 hours but could be more or less depending on baby.  I have a lot of options for newborn photography including Birth documentary, fresh 48, in home newborn, and studio newborn sessions.

A senior session is 1-2 hours.  Please remember driving time to different locations is included in session time.  This session is only for the graduating senior. Please bring any props you would like to include in your photos!

What should we wear?

Coordinate.  I don’t mean everyone wears white.  (White is actually more difficult to photograph.)

Comfort. Wear what you like! If you are not comfortable, it will show in your photos.

Layers. Layers help add contrast and beauty to your photos. Scarves and jackets are great! Don’t forget the slimming effects too!

Think about your background and where you will be displaying your photos.  Is it something you are going to want to look at every day until you get new photos done?

How and when do we pay?

I must receive your session fee and signed agreement to secure your spot on the calendar.  Please send your payment as soon as possible after we have discussed your date and time.  Your date and time will not be reserved until your payment has been received.   If you need a payment plan, please just ask!

Payment for your prints and products must be received before your order will be placed.  Most sessions come with a credit to be used toward your order.  Find investment information here.

Due to the nature of the product, all sales are final.

Cash is always appreciated and checks and credit card are welcome.  There will be a $35 fee for returned checks.
